Spring Mill Hole #1
Hole #1
Hole #1 is a 325-yard par 4 which works slightly to the left and slopes right to left. Bunkers flank both sides of the fairway and will come into play on shots hit left and long on the right. Most players will tee off with a long iron or fairway wood and play their tee shot down the right side of the fairway. This will leave a full, short iron shot with a better angle into a fairly well-guarded green. The green slopes from left to right.
Hole #16 - 1939 U.S. Open
The one easy hole on the course. Just a drive, but what a drive you will have to hit to be able to play the proper shot for a birdie. From the tee, with all the traps looming in the distance, it looks as if you were playing onto the beach. This hole is a cinch if the drive is deserving. A very tricky green sloping away from the player who hooks or pulls his drive.
