Spring Mill Hole #6
Hole #6
Hole #6 is a 500-yard par 5 to an elevated green. The hole favors a tee shot up the left side of a level fairway. There is a water hazard in front of the 6th tee that runs along the right side of the fairway. The longer the tee shot, the better chance the player will have to reach the green in two. Shorter tee shots will leave the player with the decision to lay up short of the creek that runs across the fairway, or risk hitting over it to a small fairway landing area. A well executed approach shot to the two-tiered green is critical. The green slopes considerably from back to front. Any approach shot hit on the front of the green with spin could roll 30 yards back down in the fairway.
Hole # 12 – 1939 U.S. Open
A semi-doglegged with a brook running through it making an excellent par four hole. The player hitting the drive to the left corner of the fairway gives himself a brassie or spoon for his second over the brook to the green. However, there will be plenty of trouble as the green is well-trapped on both sides.
